Listening Station Sticky Post - Melody's Echo Chamber-Young Colossus-High HighsCheck out “Endless Shore” by French singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melody Prochet. Her project goes by the name of Melody’s Echo Chamber and this track is off the self-titled LP. Also hear “Impressionist” from graphic art/music crew Young Colossus, and “Flowers Bloom” from High Highs’ self-titled debut EP.
Melody’s Echo Chamber – This track offers a lush blend of shoegaze dreaminess, grungy fuzz and psychedelic delay. It was also produced and engineered by Tame Impala member Kevin Parker, which doesn’t hurt.
Young Colossus is the side project of Orlando Weeks (The Maccabees’ frontman). “Impressionist” shows off gorgeous vocals by Alessi Laurent-Marke, which are supported by tribal-like chanting and perfectly placed electronic glitches. The entire 6 song album is definitely worth a listen, and if you can get your hands on it, the soundtrack accompanies a limited-edition illustrated book.
High Highs – “Flowers Bloom” is catchy and serene. A gentle fuzz sets the backdrop and wistful, subdued vocals delicately glide over the top. This song is the first track on their debut EP, which was released in 2011.
