Listening Station > 10/23

This round, I’ve got three indie electronic projects. Check out “Hondo (Lee Paradise Remix)” by Beta Frontiers – “Yellow Gold” off Babe’s self-titled debut LP – and the title track “Where Do You Belong?” off Digits’ recently released EP. All will be playing at the Steam Whistle Unsigned Indie Music Series, a Canadian music event that showcases up-and-coming talent. The event takes place four times a year at the Steam Whistle brewery, and this is the last series for the year. As you may have guessed, all three projects in this Listening Station post are based in or originally from Canada, a country that has bred some of the world’s most acclaimed indie bands.
Beta Frontiers – There’s some serious buzz around this project, and for good reason. While most of the music is predominantly instrumental, even tracks with vocals (like the one below) are infectious.
Babe – This song is sure to get the party started, even just in your head, while your at work with a pair of cheap headphones – but I digress. Excellently produced and engineered, this song feels like it’s got the Mark Ronson touch all over it.
Digits – Electronic music isn’t always cold, vacuous or restricted to being dancey. Digits proves that it can be meaningful and genuinely poignant with songs like the one below.
